Why are you cast down, my soul……….
Recently, I have realised that the Christian journey is beautiful, but it is not always easy. Somewhere between our busy schedules and the unending demands of life, we often find ourselves navigating quiet battles that nobody really discusses. Sometimes, I think it comes from the denial or sometimes shame that we are going through those battles; in the real truth, those are the issues that gradually get us to a point where we can no longer continue. We pray, we fast, we serve, we believe, yet we are slowly getting tired until one day we stop, exhausted, weak and to tears…when the psalmist in Psalm 42: 5&6 spoke, he had realised he was TIRED!
As Christians, we face so many internal battles; doubt, exhaustion, guilt, inconsistency, silent failures, procrastination and the many external expectations. Everyone expects a certain amount of strength to stand from us, but even Elijah said, ‘I have had enough, Lord’ (1 Kings 19). Honestly, sometimes the hardest battles are not with Demons, they are within with ourselves. Our spirits feel tired, our hearts stretched, and our walk feels heavy. We are BURNTOUT.
YES!!! I finally said it, we are burnt out. Then silence is followed by the question, ‘How did I get here?’. We now begin to feel stuck, like we are sinking, drowning in an ocean with no fire left in us to fight. Sounds familiar, right? Then comes the guilt: why should I, a Christian, be burnt out? then this is often followed by denial, then things begin to fall apart as the centre can no longer hold.
One truth I have come to learn is that being burnt out isn’t backsliding, if you channel it correctly, it leads you to deeper rest in God. Jesus said, ‘Come unto me all ye that are weary and heavy laden……I will give you Rest’, Psalm 23 speaks about God Restoring Our souls, so great news God wants to restore you.
This series was born out of real moments, times where faith was tested, times where deep exhaustion was felt, where responsibilities felt overwhelming, times of tears, confusion, and discouragement, where the desire to keep aflame and stay committed and consistent clashed with the reality of daily life, moments of feeling stuck while time raced by. Many believers silently fight these battles, thinking they are alone or that something is wrong with them, the truth is, you are perfectly ok. Every believer goes through seasons of inner struggles.
The Believer’s walk; The Battle Within is a journey into those hidden places.
A journey into the quiet fight between our desires and weaknesses
A journey into the tension between spiritual hunger and spiritual exhaustion
A journey into faith, fatigue, pressure, revival, healing and restoration
In this series, we will be talking about:
- The tiredness that settles in the spirit
- The weight of life’s responsibility
- Burnout hidden behind service and slow fading joy
- And finally rising back into strength, fire and purpose
My earnest prayer is that every reader sees themselves somewhere in this journey and finds comfort, clarity, renewal, and healing in knowing that God walks with us, even in our silent battles. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.”
Welcome to the series
